Eugene Klementieff is her grandfather. Pom is similar to both Korean words meaning "spring" or "tiger", so her parents chose the latter. The Klementieff family lived for a time at home in Canada. After that, due to the job of her father traveling, the family traveled extensively. Before settling down in France the family travelled to Japan as well as Ivory Coast.
